Gameplay & Controls

Playing a Match

Approach a cabinet, use its target interaction, and enter the arcade. Select a mode, choose an owned fighter and skin, and ready up. In a casual lobby, the host chooses the stage and rules and starts once the players are ready. Empty slots can be filled with CPUs.

Stay near your cabinet while playing. Moving away, dying, disconnecting, or leaving an active match can close the session and count as a forfeit. See Economy & Wagers for what happens to a stake.

Casual Rules

Edit configs/shared/rules.lua to control what the host can choose:

OptionDefault / range
StocksDefault 3; 1–5 available.
TimeDefault unlimited; 0, 3, 5, or 7 minutes.
ItemsEnabled by default.
Hazardstrue lets the host choose; false forces off; 'always' forces on.
CPU difficultyDefault 5; levels 1–9.
StageRandom by default, using the enabled stage list.

Fighters = {} permits the full roster; progression still controls which fighters each player owns. Use actual fighter IDs when restricting the roster. Stage and fighter lists are validated against the resource's content; unknown IDs are ignored with warnings.

Competitive rules

Ranked and tournaments use their own server configuration. Changing casual stock or time options does not change their rule sets.

Keyboard

InputAction
A / D or left / right arrowsMove.
W / SpaceJump.
SCrouch, drop through a platform, or fast-fall.
JAttack; combine with a direction for different attacks.
KSpecial; combine with a direction for different specials.
ISmash attack. Direction + attack together also performs a smash.
LShield; combine with direction for rolls or air dodges.
UGrab.
TTaunt.
EscapePause / leave.

Default bindings can be overridden through Keys in configs/client/ui.lua. Bindings use browser KeyboardEvent.code names such as KeyJ or Space, and arrays allow more than one key per action. TapJump controls jumping with up input.

Controller

With Gamepad = true, controller input is read by the FiveM client and forwarded to the game. Xbox-style defaults:

InputAction
A / YJump.
X / BAttack / special.
LB / LT / RTShield.
RBGrab.
Right stickSmash attacks.
StartPause.

Graphics and Audio

Defaults are set in configs/client/ui.lua: Quality = 2 is high (0 low, 1 medium), Crt = true enables the CRT effect, and volume defaults are master 0.8, music 0.55, and effects 0.9. Use lower graphics settings when diagnosing a client that struggles to maintain smooth play.

Stages and Availability

The current build contains 25 stages, including rooftops, streets, the pier, and moving or hazardous environments. Use the enabled stage list to tailor your server's pool and the hazard setting to control casual play. Competitive modes use a smaller stage pool configured separately in Ranked and Tournaments.

Removing a fighter or stage from an enabled list does not create a replacement. Adding new game content requires the corresponding implementation and matching game/verifier build, not just a new string in the config.
